Here we are!
Welcome to my new site! How exciting!
Welcome to my new site! How exciting!
...is a complicated, fickle creature. And so very very frustrating.
I am off to Ion to see the Gang and also watch Johnny work his magic shooting some photos. This is really interesting for me, as I am a wanna-be photographer. I don't get the concept of light at all however, as Larry conveniently was able to point out to me today several times. I never knew!!!!!!
My illustration classes, however, are really liberating this year! No more stamps! I'm actually really excited. I'm producing so-so work thus far, however it is all in real different medias than I am used to and I'm learning a whole lot. I'd rather be making things interesting like this than doing the same images over and over.
And Heather, my boss in the Outreach Office, has decided to leave. This is very sad, because she is a very cute and sweet person. I will miss working with her very much, but I have a feeling that I will have a lot of work in that office to balance it out. Thanks Heather!
I am about 2.5 weeks from my Senior Exhibition. Things are running smoothly thus far, and I have a couple of pieces that I need to get scanned in, in order to place up here to show y'all! Just a reminder, for those of you in the Milwaukee area:
"Dreamy"
A Senior Exhibition Show by Anne Harvey
Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design
273 E. Erie St., Milwaukee, WI 53202
Friday, April 20th, 5-9pm
Gallery Night
I also have several postcards that I've been mailing out. If you would like a postcard, feel free to drop me a line and I'll send you out one! (Don't worry, I don't sell addresses to companies, and such)
Also, take a look at anneharveyillustration.com, because I just redid the whole design last night, and am rather proud of the outcome! Next is this blog design. Also, if you come across any mistakes, please let me know so I can fix them up! Thanks kindly!
p.s. MY MOM IS COMING TO THESIS! Considering that back in December I thought she was probably going to be dead, (which would have been quite a bummer )this is particularly good news!
So is anyone else completely freaked out by Google's new street view? As creeped out as I am I can stop virtually wandering the streets. I feel like a stalker.
I cannot shake this flu. I am home on a Friday with another mystery sickness. What better way to spend my time than to upgrade to MT4? For anyone that is a closet-nerd like myself, you know that it is a Friday well spent. But don't tell anyone I told you that.
Really though, I need to buckle down and get professional about this site and the portfolio site. Not that I have any desire to do a bunch of free-lancing, heavens no. But next weekish I'm going to be talking to MIAD students about self-promotion and technology and how the two can combine wonderfully to put you on top of the Google search....
But I know that they are going to go home and Google me and see my less than impressive, ancient, half-assed, broken-link site. Which probably doesn't make me too much of an authority on the subject.
So instead of quietly relaxing this weekend, I spent it redesigning my dad's website.
I haven't really been too skilled in Flash, but I figure it is time I learn. With a little help from the boyfriend, I was able to click away and get the website up! Flash is actually a little bit more intuitive than I thought. I was required to take a class on it at MIAD, but I missed one day and never caught up. It is one of those programs that unless you use it all the time, you never really figure it out.
Take a look! Let me know what you think! (and tell me about bugs.....I know there are probably bugs..)
So this is going to be the look and feel of my new portfolio site. Eventually I will be getting some sweet flash animation up in there, but until then there ya go. I believe it has all of the essentials.
The parents are coming up next weekend! I'm going to try to paint my apartment in nice hues of orange and purple before they get here. Does anyone know of some cool goings on in Milwaukee?
Speaking of Milwaukee, here is a pretty nifty site by MIAD alum: MKEArt.com. There is a lot of potential here and it looks like they are off to a great start. It makes me wonder why hasn't anyone thought of it before?
Coming soon to a post near you: Felted illustrative portraits. Dig it.
