April 2008 Archives

April 3, 2008

Finally - a post worth reading.

Now, I'm the type of person that gets bored pretty easy. If there ain't pictures, then I usually don't read it. I've been guilty of posting pictureless posts lately. I've been dealing with the age-old question of "Is it better to post without pics, or to never have posted at all?"

So that being said, I finally got off my lazy duff and took some photos. Of the new apartment, of new projects I'm working on, of new artwork I have bought. While most are posted at flickr, I have a couple to share with you!

Kitchen So this is my new apartment. I had been hesitant to post pictures because of how messy I am. I'm still too shy to post the living room/disaster area, but here is my scrumptious kitchen! So much room! So much counter space! I had forgotten what cabinets were!

So in my new kitchen, I baked a wonderful Spinach Quiche pie. My first baked good to break in the apartment and the oven. It turned out very nicely, however I wouldn't suggest microwaving it to heat it up. Kinda mushy.Spinach Quiche pie.

I also know that I am a fairly messy person. In my old apartment, I couldn't hide it, since it was essentially my bedroom. I am of firm belief that a bedroom is allowed required to be messy. So I will not apologize for the state of my room. It is comfortable and sunny and messy.

Last but not least, my wonderful kittens have moved in quite soundly as well. There are a lot of extra places for them to explore (hello built-in shelving!) as well as more room for them to run back and forth.

But other than more room, the cats remain nonplussed about their new glorious surroundings. They have more important matters at hand.

Slow Crafter.

babette progress I'm finding out that I am really slow at getting projects done. And I procrastinate. What's new? Everyone does that. But I look at all of the gorgeous projects on Ravelry and really wonder how in the world does anyone do any of this? I mean, how is it physically possible to get everything done and still keep a full time job, family and other hobbies?

I have this sweater and blanket that I take with me everywhere. Been carrying it around for about a month now. In addition to working on it at home, I work on it at friends' houses, bars, movies, anywhere. AND THEY ARE STILL NOT DONE. I feel like every row I add really doesn't add anything at all. It's getting ridiculous. I also try to create a lot of projects at one time, which is probably not the best idea. But those are my main two and they won't hurry up and finish. What is a girl to do?

(I do realize that this is probably the main problem of every handi-girl. But then when does anyone ever finish the things that I get jealous of and then try to make?)

Weirdo.

So Rachel has been kind enough to tag me for "Seven Weird Things." I've never really been one to fill out things like this, I imagine I'm not very good at it. But here goes:

1. Often I will forget to eat. This does not in any way equate the seriousness of an eating disorder, but I've talked to friends and family members who have struggled with weight and how they always think about eating. Sometimes I will go a whole day and think, "Jeez I feel like crap! Oh wait! I haven't eaten anything!"

2. I like to drink things way better than eat. If I could puree my dinner I would.

3. I can NOT stand fingernails. Especially long girly ones. They gross me out.

4. I rarely am in the mood to clean but when I am I go CRAZY and clean everything. Dust, vaccuum, moving to get behind things, polish, the whole nine yards.

5. I love sweating. Especially in hot weather. LOVE IT.

6. I pick up hobbies quickly and vehemently. I drop them just as easily. The only hobby that has ever stuck is knitting/crocheting. I have had gardening, keeping fish, bicycling, running and various other activities. I will pick them up for a couple months time to time, but I gain and lose interest very quickly.

7. I would rather eat fruit and vegetables instead of cake and ice cream.

I could go weirder. I'll save those for a later day.

Now who to tag? I haven't really made any "Blog Friendships" yet, so if you don't know me......hello! Will you fill out my survey?

Ho-Hum

Nothing has really struck me lately enough to need to write about it. I am on the verge of finishing several knit projects though, so I know pictures will follow shortly.
