Here we are!

Welcome to my new site! How exciting!

New shoes!

I am wearing my new boots and they are fabulous. They are raising my cool factor by a good 10 points.

I also spent the whole day painting. Which was really nice! Tomorrow I am off to Chicago/Joliet to draw caricatures at a private party, which should be a nice relaxing change from homework.

Flash!

...is a complicated, fickle creature. And so very very frustrating.

I am off to Ion to see the Gang and also watch Johnny work his magic shooting some photos. This is really interesting for me, as I am a wanna-be photographer. I don't get the concept of light at all however, as Larry conveniently was able to point out to me today several times. I never knew!!!!!!

My illustration classes, however, are really liberating this year! No more stamps! I'm actually really excited. I'm producing so-so work thus far, however it is all in real different medias than I am used to and I'm learning a whole lot. I'd rather be making things interesting like this than doing the same images over and over.

And Heather, my boss in the Outreach Office, has decided to leave. This is very sad, because she is a very cute and sweet person. I will miss working with her very much, but I have a feeling that I will have a lot of work in that office to balance it out. Thanks Heather!

Mars Volta!

Oh I am seeing the Mars Volta tonight and I am very excited!!!

And!! Gas is only $2.29? That is craziness! Why isn't that all over the news? The only thing better is knowing that it is probably even cheaper in Kansas City.

Also, the illustration lab is still closed on weekends and this is frustrating. I know a lot of people use it, but I'm not sure that many are as adamant about getting it back as I am. The only way to get it back, of course is to be adamant, so I suppose I'll just keep on truckin'.

Critique.

Well, I just got out of a real so-so critique. It actually went pretty badly but I kind of knew it was going to so I really wasn't surprised. What is surprising is I don't care! In fact I am really excited about the next one. I think I realized during critique to not try to take photos that the teacher will like, because he probably won't anyway. I always do that on the first critique. But I guess you have to get a feel for what the rest are going to be about. So really I'm not sure what I'm writing about here. I'm not really distraught at all!

In fact, one thing that I have been looking at and frequenting lately is blogs from artists and not artists. What is the point of a blog? To keep in touch? Why do I enjoy reading about a stranger's day? It's like I am connecting and I feel I know the person, but in reality, I have no idea! Is this writing reflecting who I am? If this blog became really quite popular, would people start assuming what kind of a person I am? Do I really want people to read this? I'm not sure that I mind either way, but why make things like this public?

I suppose the main reason I have one is just to figure it out. Learn all the coding behind it to better serve my web design abilities. But then once it is figured out, how come I am still writing, especially when my writing has nothing to do anymore with technical aspects?

What is the point of blogs?

Drop!

I just dropped my photo class! I just was not feeling it at all. It was becoming such a pain and it was only one month into it. Hopefully I can use the extra time to do more important things, such as focusing on my thesis.

Also, it's a little rough, yet, but I have a new store: CafePress. So if you have ever in your life wanted a coffee mug or t-shirt with a sketch on it, now you have it!

My goal is to really get all my portfolio's and stores such as this running smoothly and spotlessly by the time I graduate.

Also, I want one of these for Christmas:

Portfolio on theispot.com

Portfolio on altpick.com

Or a wacom tablet.

Wrinkles

I was talking to Sarah and she all of a sudden said, "You have no wrinkles!" I was very flattered because having no wrinkles is a good thing. However I don't really pay attention too closely to the amount of wrinkles, so I went to look into a mirror to prove it to myself. I don't think I had too many wrinkles, or at least any more than there should be, but I did have a nice big purple stripe of paint on my forehead.

Chickens!

I visited the chickens today and they were quite friendly! We played for a little bit. I could only find one egg, so either they are really hiding them well or they just laid one egg. I think I will check back in the morning for them. I put them back in their house early because a storm was a-brewin', so they probably didn't have time yet.

Today I also went to a fabric store and picked out a skirt pattern and 2 fabrics. I haven't really sewn since high school so I started with a pattern to make it easy on myself. Once the fabric comes out of the wash, I will take pictures to post up here. They are delightful.

That also makes me want to learn how to knit. I can crochet, but I haven't in a while. Rachel's mom knitted me a hat a while back and I wear it all the time. I would like to knit a skirt and some mittens.
